Jumper: Griffin's Story Review

Jumper: Griffin's StoryWell, let's put it this way, it is not the worst game I ever played but then again I did finish it in under approximately two hours. The funny thing is that is more than enough time to beat the game. In fact, you could probably beat it without dying in under 30 minutes.

The major flaw in the game is that you only use the 'b' button. I think another button does a slower attack but it really does not matter. Every time you hit the button it is a random chance of successfully landing a hit. The only cool weapon is a flame thrower that you get at the end of the game. Aside from that all of the weapons sound alike and do no more damage than the original dagger you start out with. As a result the gameplay is awful. The graphics are bad but they wouldn't have been that bad if the gameplay was actually good.

I didn't really mind this game but it is too short and is just a very below average beat 'em up kind of game. I would give it a 5/10 since you do fight bosses and can teleport. However, a game such as Oblivion encompasses these two elements amongst others. It almost appears as if this game was never finished and was simply rushed out after just 5 levels were made. Each level is no more than 10 minutes long.

The coolest thing you do in the game is teleport, but since this game is so linear it is quickly forgettable. The only reason I bought this game is because ONE day it may become rare alongside Anubis II. However, if you are not a collector of any kind and simply are looking for a good game to play, steer away from this game and any cereal products that may contain this game for free ( I wouldn't be surprised).

Look for Baroque instead.

Fire Pro Wrestling Returns Review

Fire Pro Wrestling ReturnsFire Pro Wrestling is a really old wrestling series from Japan that has been around since the early 90s. So far only 2 versions have only ever been released in America, both of them on GBA.

Agetec decided to bring this two year old Japanese wrestling game to the states recently, and I couldn't be more grateful.

Yes this game looks bad, but the graphics are not where it shines. It is all about the amazing gameplay and extreme customization.

Some people may complain that their favorite WWE superstars are missing, but they are not. All your favorite WWE stars are there under a different alias, and if they do happen to be missing you can create them.

For $15 this is something any wrestling fan should pick up. It's amazingly deep and way better then the latest WWE game.

Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2 Review

Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2Today I just rented Matt Hoffman Pro BMX2, and boy was I stupid. That game stunck with a capital S! I mean you most Activision games like Street Hoops or Spider Man the Movie are great, but this one is a disgrace. You'd also think, that if the first is great, thta the second would be a(n) bigger improvement- Not all the time. It's so hard that I can't even pass the first level. I fall all the time, and my person is just as bloody as can be. If there are some cheat codes or something, maybe it might be a lot better, but... I HATE IT!!! And "HATE", is a strong word. If I were you, I'd remove this game from your X-Mas list. Get Tony Hawk Underground. I heard it rules all! Toodaloo!

XIII Review

XIIIWhile some first person shooters go for realism, XIII brings you into a comic book world of slow motion falls and fun camera angles, all in cel shaded glory!
First, you are XIII. You've got anmesia, just like probably 50% of other game heroes :)You are caught up in some sort of international conspiracy and have to figure out who you are and what is going on. And, of course, Who You Can Trust.
The plot is long and complicated and great fun to work through. But it's the graphics that really shine. This is all cel shaded, so you really feel like you're in a comic book story. They have cut scenes to add to that feeling. If someone's standing up on a cliff and you shoot them down, little "AAaaaaggghhh"s trail after them! There are all sorts of effects like that that are very fun to watch.
The interface is very easy to use. Symbols pop up to show you when you can perform actions. There's the usual medkits, weapons and ammo. They do a GREAT job with this. If an enemy's gun runs out, they have to reload. If you take too long to get to them and they fire a lot of bullets, their ammo will be gone when you pick up the gun!
There's great multiplayer here too, with a variety of maps and gameplay options. So even when you finish the game, there will be much more fun to be had.
I was worried that with all the hype surrounding this game that it wouldn't deliver. And indeed, some people at the game shop I buy from claimed that they were disappointed. But really, the game is amazingly well done, has great graphics and great gameplay with characters that you get actively interested in. You'd have to be pretty jaded to diss this game just because it was hyped before its release!

Hot Shots Tennis Review

Hot Shots TennisI got the demo on monday and we played it with my 9 year old son. We loved it even though we're no tennis fans. The game is easy to pick up.

We enjoyed the demo so much i decided to give it to him as a birthday present, which he liked a lot.

We have only played one on one, but the game has story mode which lets you unlock players, refs and courts. It has begginer, mediate and experienced player modes. You can customize the length of a match.

Good thing about arcade games over simulation sport ones is they don't get dated by mid season, since characters are make believe. You can custumize the frecuency of replays, it has mono, stereo or Dolby Pro Logic sounds, you may play with music on the background or non at all.

So it doesn't matter if you don't know who Federer or Nadal are, or if you know tennis rules, the game is very simple, but yet very entertaining.

Even when you make a bad play the players reactions are so funny you forget you are loosing. Controls are very responsive and each player has its own advantages ans disadvantages.

Bottom line is: If you want to have fun, especially with your children this is a good choice. Still I think it can be enjoyable if played amongst adults. Hot Shots is better known for its golf games, this is true to the franchise yet I like tennis better than golf.

SingStar Pop Review

SingStar PopSingStar Pop for the PS2 lets you choose from over 30 different pop songs and sing along with the music videos. The videos are what set this apart from the many other sing-along games for the PS2.

I own and play many of the other game systems, and like this style of gameplay in general. I find it a bit annoying that SingStar makes you buy SingStar specific microphones, and won't work with other standard PS2 microphones, but if you get into the series you could justify the added price since the mics work with the PS2 and PS3 equally. It's a purchase that will last you a system upgrade.

Also, where many other games use replacement singers and not the actual artists - which can lead to results ranging from comical to outright awful - this game involves the real singers, real videos, real images, everything. So if you love singing along to videos, this is perfect.

That really is the main focus of this game. There isn't a career mode, or much of any other 'gaming' aspect. You don't get to choose different arenas. There are no crowds cheering you on. It's just the video playing, you singing along, and the words scrolling by to help you out.

The note bars are very basic. They barely give you a sense of the pitch, and in situations where the singer "warbles", the note line often is a straight line. Also, the game seems to pick up on the actual singer's vocals, so even if you barely sing at all, you get a good rating.

There's a video mode where you can film yourself singing, and then play it back. This is great for aspiring club singers to get a sense of what they look like for an audience, to practice their moves and gestures. This helps the singer both perfect their pitch and vocal range as well as their on-stage expressiveness. You of course need the Eye Toy for this part to work!

I realize I'm an adult gamer, and not a teen, but I wish there was more of a range of songs offered here. Out of the list of songs, there were a handful I really enjoyed and a few others I would sing - but many just weren't of interest to me. I loved the XBox games that let you download tons of content - but here I have to wait for the new PS3 version to come out before I have that ability.

So in the end, if you love the songs on this list, you'll like the game. If you're not that fond of these songs, hold off for the PS3 version and get yourself a PS3. Then you'll be able to download songs and videos for hundreds of songs. Also, I would hope for the PS3 version that they'll improve the actual song-tracking side of the game, to make it similar to the much higher quality abilities of the other karaoke style games.

Song Listing:
3 Doors Down - Kryptonite
A-Ha - Take On Me

All-American Rejects- Move Along

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 Review

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08Have been playing Tiger Woods Golf for years. This year was such a disappointment from the play aspect. My husband and I played together, being a guest on each others careers. The only way to play together is the play now option. This makes it a singular effort to complete your career matches. It seems to me all ps3 games are more geared to playing online instead of playing with friends. Why do we have to loose that aspect just to get better graphics? The game face has been overhauled and is more realistic and you can even load a picture of yourself.Change the way modifers are applied to your player. They brought back the 3 click (when you had the bar to swing with)

Stuntman: Ignition Review

Stuntman: Ignition... I wasn't really into the last stuntman game that hit the market (Forever ago), it was to my memory, very short and painstakingly frustrating. This game, however, is a total blast! I rented it (Something I do on a regular basis these days and would advise everyone to start doing, games are rarely worth 60 bucks anymore)a couple of nights ago and my roommate and I have played it non-stop since. The real challenge is that so much is going on all around you at once you really have to focus to complete what you would think is a real easy 2 minute scene. You have to hit your marks precisely while gas tankers are flipping in front of you, buildings are collapsing, cops are chasing you, etc.
You work on verious different 'movies' or 'commercials' that are all suspiciously familiar: Dukes of Hazzard, James Bond, Dante's Peak, a 70's cop movie, a Rambo-esque action movie and more.
There is plenty of extras to unlock for the perfectionists out there, and you'll probably find yourself going back over past movies just to nail that tricky scene that you just didn't feel that you gave your all to last time around. Don't be fooled by the one reviewer on here that said it was short! He must have the demo, this game is plenty bigger than most games out nowadays and much much more challenging (I complete Tomb Raider and Splinter Cell, Double agent each in a weekend, which is how long I have owned this now and I'm still not done playing) and certainly a lot more fun.
Cons? I honestly can't think of any. I guess some people may find the difficulty a little inconsistent (Some later missions are easier than previous ones) but that's really neither here nor there. My roommate faired better in missions where timing was more important than showmanship, and I was the opposite, so that's where I think the difficulty can appear a little off.
I'd certainly recommend giving this one a go! Best game I've played in a year or so.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Review

Guitar Hero III: Legends of RockI originally bought a PS2 just to play guitar hero 1.And it was quite ground breaking.I then followed it up and bought GH2 and Rock the 80's.GH2 was a big improvement over the first, and 80's is the exact same engine as 2, just with different songs and graphic overlays.

Now, I was expecting quite a bit for GH3 but I don't think I was expecting anything over the top of what is possible. And here start all my issues with GH3:

1.Sony added bluetooth to the PS3 which was an amazing idea. There was NO need to add a wireless dongle. There is wireless built into the PS3 for a reason, USE IT!A wireless dongle for PS2 would be understandable. But common activision, there is NO excuse for the dongle.

2. The implementation of the GH3 controller with the PS3 is below standards. You CANNOT turn on the PS3 with the controller like you can the sixaxis.

3. People have been waiting for a guitar controller for the PS3 so they can play the old GH's on the system. Here is the controller everyone has been waiting for, but sorry... this controller doesn't work with anything but GH3.GH I, II, and rock the 80's still have no way to play on a PS3 even though sony added backwards compatability for legacy games.

4. Why couldn't they model the guitar after a sixaxis? They could have made the guitar run just like a sixaxis which in turn would create a seamless integration with the PS3 like it should be.The 5 colored buttons could stay the way they are right now, the two bottom triggers on the sixaxis are pressure sensitive and could have been used for the wammy bar.The built in motion sensor could be the 'star power' trigger, and there is still many more buttons left over. There is no need for such a poorly integrated controller.

5. The overall timing of the game feels 'off'.I've calibrated and still the game doesn't feel right.

6. In practice mode, your calibration doesn't work.So if you calibrate your TV with lets say 50ms, in practice mode it's always at 0ms no matter what.In the high ms (80+) you will not be able to hit one note properly.Go try it and see for yourself.

7. There are some great songs on here, but there is way more filler than the good stuff.I've already beat the game on expert, and I got excited for maybe 4 or 5 songs the entire way through.Mostly it was "lets get this over so I can move on" type songs.

8. The guitar runs on 2 AA batteries.Again, if this was modeled after the sixaxis like it should have been, it would have been a simple usb cord to charge the guitar.Yeah I know it's just 2 batteries, but I still feel the developers were lazy putting this package together. There are positives, the removable neck is great, the guitar feels solid, removable face plate, updated graphics (720P), downloadable content in the future. But I still feel let down with this one.Let the flaming begin ;)

Samba De Amigo Review

Samba De AmigoSamba de Amigo is the revival of Sega's classic Dreamcast game. The original was one of the first rhythm games to come with its own special peripheral controller in the form of maracas, which have now been translated to the Wii's motion-sensitive controls. You shake your controllers in time with the music, matching the beats in either the high, middle, or low circles.

This game has been unfairly panned in professional reviews, and to get the most out of it you have to understand how the controls actually work. Unlike the Dreamcast version, the Wii remote does not sense height - raising your arms above your head to shake won't actually register a high beat. It's about angles, so you tilt the remote up to hit the high circles, point it down to hit the low circles, and hold it level to hit the ones in the middle. It's very much about wrist work, and once you've got this down the game's easier to manage. The other problem is that the learning curve is pretty steep. Easy is a write-off, Normal isn't much challenge, but at Hard the beats start coming every which way, and it's often hard to focus on what you're supposed to hit next. With practice you'll get better, but the game isn't great at prepping you for the challenge.

Otherwise the rest of the presentation is mostly solid. Graphics are wild, colouful, and totally psychedelic. It's exactly the type of look to make the game stand out. The song list features a bunch of well-known Latin and pop beats, and while a lot of them are covers, this is a pretty strong lineup. There's also downloadable content available, so like other music games you get a bit more value. What doesn't work are the various game modes, which basically all amount to what you're doing in single player career, and the minigames, which are an absolute brainless waste of time. Hit a pinata? What's the point?

I'd recommend going against the reviewers for this one and picking this up if you want a music game that's not Guitar Hero/Rock Band. The Wii controls get the job done once you figure them out, and the catchy beats and visuals make this an easy game to get into.

PS: Like most Wii games, they're selling a pair of plastic maracas that can snap on to your controller for that added "realism." Skip 'em. The shaking is fun for a few songs, but you'll be more accurate without the added weight.

Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena Review

Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena"The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena" was such an enjoyable game for me that it killed me that one significant flaw kept the game's fun level down. (I'll go into that below.) Aside from that, you get two games on one blu-ray disc. In fact, one of the opening screens upon booting up offers you a choice to play "Escape From Butcher Bay" or "Assault on Dark Athena", much like a movie DVD/Blu-ray menu, so the games are separate and are on the same disc. So you really get your money's worth, IF you haven't played "Escape From Butcher Bay" before, which I hadn't.

"Escape From Butcher Bay" is an engrossing game that really (even being 5 years old) takes first person shooters into a different direction. You are able to interact with a whole cast of believable characters, many of which are better scripted and animated than ANY of the non-playable characters in "Fallout 3." The next-gen gloss really makes everything shine--no pun intended. The character models are very detailed and the backgrounds and levels are very sharp. Another reviewer complained about the graphics and I have to say I am shocked by that. There are very few times the graphics are anything less that next-gen. "Assault On Dark Athena" is built on the same engine and has equally sharp graphics and an interesting cast of highly detailed characters.

The stories for both are very much part of the Riddick universe and canon, with "Escape From Butcher Bay" being the one mentioned in the actual movies. I would say the story for "Escape From Butcher Bay" is superior to "Assault on Dark Athena", but not by much. Both are very detailed and your main quests (and side quests) add a lot of depth and time to the playing experience.

I thought the controls were very good and the selection of weapons was particularly generous--though I preferred the Ulaks, as they were quite lethal for silent kills or melee combat. The other weapons were nicely detailed and animated and it was always cool to walk into a room, shoot out the lights, and turn the Riddick eyeshine on so I could see in the dark.

The sound is great and many have mention the top notch voice acting. I have to agree, the voice acting was superb and it even has some musical cues from the movies.

The enemy AI is rather good and relentless. It really forces you to use Riddick's stealth abilities (which include the awesome eyeshine, where he can see in the dark) to perform quick kills.

Riddick, at times (in both games) can step into robot-like suits and then use them against the enemy. This is fun and adds variety. In "Dark Athena" he can even take over and control the zombie like soldiers, in certain areas.

Now to the issues that keep this from being a solid 4-5 star game. Well, the checkpoint save system is the worst I have seen in a long time. Many times you will be down to one health block and you move ahead and it automatically saves you progress there. You die and you start back there with one health block. If you die enough, the game generously gives you another one and I have heard if you die enough, then another one. But this save system saps the fun out of the game by constant loading screens and then you finding out you have a large amount of enemies or big enemies to fight, BUT you only have one to two health blocks. It is very tiresome and adds a lot of deaths and restarts. Also, the map system in "Escape" (which is actually non-existent in "Dark Athena") doesn't help at all as it doesn't show your location or direction on the map! These two flaws seriously affect an otherwise awesome gaming experience and that is sad.

There's some minor glitches I noticed like one of the cut scenes had dialogue spoken, but there was a serious delay to the characters lip-synching. Also, there was some slowdown and choppiness.

Overall, it is a fun game despite the flaws and glitches. I had a great time, though cursing at the screen from time to time, and I think most will enjoy the game if they can overlook these problems.

3/5 stars

Pros:
*15+ hrs. of gameplay.
*Great graphics for the character models and levels.
*2 games for one price.
*Well constructed levels, with multiple non-linear routes.
*Controls are pretty solid.
*Enemy AI is good.
*Sound is good.
*You get to play as Riddick with Vin Diesel voicing the character.

Cons:
*The worst checkpoint save system that results in many loading screens and many deaths due to reloading with few health blocks. (Should have had a nice hard drive install to speed up loading times or do away with them.)
*Enemy AI can get too good in some areas and also, while the game developers want you to be sneaking around, many enemies carry flashlights on their guns which makes sneaking almost a gimmick.
*Map in "Butcher Bay" is terrible and no map in "Dark Athena."
*A few glitches and slowdown.

Tomb Raider Underworld Review

Tomb Raider UnderworldI'm not one to put something down a lot. If I don't enjoy it, I normally won't take the time to write about it. However, being that I am a huge Tomb Raider fan, I find it is my civic duty to warn other fans of the atrocity that is Underworld. For those of us that don't have a next gen console yet, it was a welcome release (probably one of the last) for the PS2. However one has to wonder why it was even released for the PS2 at all. My only guess is for them to make the quick buck on us poor PS2 folk.

I'm going to start with something that really drew me to the Tomb Raider series from the beginning: The enemies, many of whom were animals. When you watch game play on sites such as YouTube where Lara is battling sharks underwater or getting ambushed by spiders in the jungle, your mouth waters in anticipation of being able to take on these creatures on the PS2 version, but hold that thought. Because even though you'll encounter jellyfish (which don't move) in the ocean level, you don't come face to face with a single shark nor do you have the ability to shoot your guns underwater either.

While you will encounter a few tigers in Thailand and even some giant venom spewing lizards who will crawl out of the holes in a wall in one location, that's really about the extent of the fun enemies. You'll encounter some black panthers in Mexico, too, as well as some supernatural enemies (which Tomb Raider is known for doing) in later levels, but the bulk of the game is platforming and exploration. Encountering enemies is few and far between which doesn't give it much depth. And what about that boss kraken in the underwater level?

It just sits there doing nothing! No excitement and in truth, it really can't be called a boss at all. In fact, there is not one single boss in this game. While I always get nervous going up against Tomb Raider bosses for their uniqueness and sometimes difficulty in figuring out a way to beat them, this game offered no challenges of the sort. Heck, even when you make it to the conclusion of the game, you'd assume there would be some sort of final confrontation, but you don't even get that - just a few fireballs thrown your way.

As to the platforming part, the camera tends to have a tendency to pull away literally making you a fly on the wall as you desperately squint to see where Lara is and where you can make your next jump. While this doesn't happen all the time, it's annoying when it does. Also, the camera gets caught behind ledges or walls not giving you a decent look at your surroundings and making you fight the camera and losing every time. It isn't until you move that the camera relaxes and by then, it may be too late.

As to the environments and tombs (another reason I liked the older games) aside from the platforming in a few locations that seem massive, there really aren't any nor are there any animals to bug you as you try and make each jump. In Anniversary, I remember having to deal with bats on a few occasions. But in this game nothing. And really, saying that the PS2 is last gen is a poor excuse, especially when the last gen version of Anniversary was so good. They could have at least given it that amount of quality.

Like someone previously said, it's like they ported this game onto the PS2 making it playable but removing all the fun features the next gen installments contain. Why do that to the fans that have been so loyal to the series? Those involved in making this version of the game need to issue a public apology to the fans and the sooner the better. This is just heartbreaking. Despite all this, I will say that the music is decent in terms of the overall soundtrack (like the few times you encounter animals or during the end credits) and while the graphics could have been better (especially underwater which almost looks murky) they're decent, especially for being a late PS2 release. However, the bad far outweigh the good. Keep your money and begin to save up for a PS3 before getting this title for that. Or, if your PC has the specifications, get this game on that.

Product Description:
Tomb Raider: Underworld for PlayStation 2 by Eidos resumes where Tomb Raider: Legend left off. This installment introduces a new, interactive playing environment that gives players a chance to immerse themselves more fully into the game. Players once again take the role of Lara Croft as she explores such wide-ranging places as the Arctic, Mexico, and beneath the Mediterranean Sea.

Lara's environment is now much more realistic and interactive. View larger.

And now she can hold onto a ledge with one hand and fire a gun with the other. View larger. Interactive Worlds Introduces Realistic game play
Unlike the previous games in the series, Lara's environment is now much more realistic and interactive. Footprints will be left in mud, for example, but only until they wash away in the rain. Lara's shirt will also get wet, and she's more likely to lose her grip if she is standing on a slippery, rain-soaked ledge. When the sun comes out, her shirt will dry and the slippery surfaces regain their friction.
In Underworld, Lara also has a lot more flexibility in how she makes her way through a level, as there is often more than one way to get from here to there. She can now climb walls with texture and rocky outcroppings to reach areas she previously wouldn't have been able to access.
All of these additions have been made to give the game a non-linear, open feel. Players can interactive with the environment by doing things they find to be intuitive, and the game will respond appropriately. When Lara interacts with trees, for example, she will push aside leaves using either one or two hands depending, on whether or not she's holding something. These details give a lifelike, immersive sensation to the game.
New Melee Combat System
Underworld introduces a new melee combat system that requires players to strategically strike with offensive, defensive, and evasive maneuvers. Lara can now attack enemies with different punches, kicks, knees, and other acrobatic onslaughts. Items lying on the ground, such as poles that were previously walked on, can be picked up and swung at enemies. Players can also perform a greater variety of actions with weapons; for example, Lara can now hold onto a ledge with one hand and fire a gun with the other.
Realistic Enemy and Animal AI
The AI in Tomb Raider: Underworld has also taken a big step forward--both enemies and animals now make independent decisions based on their surroundings, employ ambush and squad tactics when fighting, and will retreat if deemed necessary.

With updated graphics and a more immersive and realistic game play, Tomb Raider: Underworld will have both fans and newcomers excited about the newest installment in this popular video game-pinup franchise.

Tomb Raider: Underworld is loaded with a new melee combat system, various weapons, and smarter AI for both enemies and animals.

Super Hero Squad Review

Super Hero SquadOkay I see alot of bad reviews from adults who expect this game to be good, but this is a kids game, and any kid who played this game loves it. I bought it for my 5 year old son and it's one of his favorite game on the Wii. If you're an adult who's buying this game and are expecting a mature story/gameplay, than you should not buy this game, it's made for kids and should only be played by kids. I play this with my son and my only issue is the camera needs work, other than that it's an average kids game

Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus Review

Sly Cooper and the Thievius RaccoonusDon't let the title of this game throw you. Almost undoubtedly, many PS2 owners will overlook this game, thinking it's simply kid's stuff. Well, know now that Sly Cooper is the most original game to come along in quite awhile, and for kids and adults alike, it's one of the best titles out there, hands down. Everything, from gameplay to presentation, is perfect, and it's truly a rewarding gaming experience.
The game is a typical 3D platformer, with the hero, Sly Cooper, master thief, trekking through various locales in hopes of restoring the five pieces of his "Thievius Raccoonus", his family's great book of stealing. The book was torn apart by the group known as the Five Fiends, and now, it's up to Sly and his buddies to overcome the villians and steal what is rightfully theirs.
The graphics are splendid, taking full command of the PS2's capabilities with gorgeous -- and fitting -- cel-shading. The voice-acting, while a little hokey, has its moments, but the real prize of the game is its overall presentation. From opening credits to cut-scenes, Sly Cooper weaves a fun, truly original tale that can only beg for more sequels.
The gameplay is precise, with Sly a cinch to control. A quick tutorial mission acts as the first "stage," so novice gamers will have no problems figuring out how to make Sly climb, jump, swing, and do other marvelous things with his unique cane. Special "Super Sneaky" moves are available with a simple press of a button, and special techniques can be unlocked by finding "clues" (bottles) throughout the levels. These special techniques are fun to use and add some flavor to the game, but they're not necessary to complete your missions.
With colorful characters, memorable villains, rewarding gameplay, rich graphics, and a terrific story, Sly Cooper should find its way onto your PS2 soon. It won't take many days to finish, but the ride through is well worth it!

Project Gotham Racing 3 Review

Project Gotham Racing 3If you're a racing fan, this is a must-have game for your XBox 360. If you're just looking to see how good the graphics are on the XBox 360, at lesat rent this game. It's quite impressive!!

You choose from a number of real cars. There are Ferraris, Jaguars, Aston Martins, Lamborghinis, McLarens and much more. The cars look AMAZINGLY good with full detail, and you can choose the color as well.

You race your car through a number of circuits around some quite recognizeable towns. You end up in London, Las Vegas, New York City, Tokyo and Nurburgring. Each location is full of detail. When you drive down the river Thames in London you pass Big Ben. Vegas has gorgeous hotels that I remember from my visits there.

Doing fun stunts earns you Kudos points, so not only are you aiming to win your races to earn cash, but you also want to rack up Kudos points. That makes even the easier races fun, as you do spins, slides and much more.

The world you're in is quite interactive. The people watching the race take flash pictures as you drive past - but if you crash into a fence near them, they all cringe. There are clouds floating by overhead. Mostly, though, there are other racers on the track trying to get by you and steal the lead.

We found the controls to be very intuitive, and the cars handled quite nicely. Note that this is a GAME racing system - i.e. it's not pure realistic. If you smash into a wall at 100mph, your car does not explode into a thousand shards of metal. You simply spin off gently and keep going. That being said, most gamers really don't want a "realistic" racing game. They want a fun one, and this game delivers across the board.

I have to admit that for me, half the fun in this game is the gorgeous landscapes. In Vegas, you drive past the Excalibur and Treasure Island, and the details are picture-perfect. New York, New York is by the track in quite amazing clarity.

I also love the sound in this game - because the soundtrack options are simply awesome. You can choose from a number of soundtracks, from classical to alternative to J-Pop and more. You can even stream in music from your iPod or other MP3 player!

I suppose if you hate racing games, you probably will find this game to be boring. You're just racing cars around in circles with pretty scenery and great sound. But you'd have to be in the minority to not enjoy this game. The cars are amazing. The graphics are amazing. The sound is amazing. Because of the multiplayer options, including up to 8 simultanous live players online, you could play this game for eternity and still find people to challenge you.

If you want even MORE of a challenge, you can even create your own custom route through their maps! You can design your very own custom lap system and challenge others to play on it. Talk about variety!

Highly, highly recommended!

Madden NFL 08 Review

Madden NFL 08I have purchased all the Madden games over the past dozen years or so, and each year the game saw major improvements. That is, until Madden 2006 came out. That game was basically a re-hashing of madden 2005 with roster updates, that is about it. Madden 2007 was just as bad, the same exact game. And to make matters worse, all of the rookies were not in last year's game, so you had to create them. There were numerous glitches with rosters and stats in the franchise mode as well. However, the game was worth the price if you love football and enjoy the gameplay itself. And that is what makes the new Madden 2008 a bit better than previous years, although not by much. I am finding it more complicated to run the ball without using a proper blocking scheme, which was not evident in past Maddes games. Also, when stopping the run against the AI, you can read their blocking scheme and make the adjustments on the fly much easier than before. On Madden 2006, Michael Vick ran for 350 yards per game and nobody could stop him. He would break five tackles by pro-bowl defenders twice his size. But this seems to be corrected to an extent here. The dynasty mode and practice modes have been tweaked some, but I wouldn't call it an all out improvement from past years. In closing, this game is perfect if you loved last year's game. But for those of you who still play Madden 2007 and enjoy it, don't rush out today and buy this one thinking it is 100% improvement. It is still the best game on earth, but it is also a game that stays nearly the same each year, too.

Soul Bubbles Review

Soul BubblesI read about this game a while back, checked out some videos online, and finally this game is out.Although for the time being it's only being sold at Toys R Us as an exclusive, hopefully this will change so this game can have a proper release.

I won't go into the whole story etc. I would however like to talk about the game play and how beautiful the artwork is.

In a nutshell, your job is to use the stylus to make your character blow your bubble through the level, and get it to the end.Yeah, that's like 90% of other games too,I know, but the little puzzles along the way, hidden items, the whole inventiveness of the levels was (this is going to sound weird for a DS game but oh well...)Breathtaking.

Your bubble is affected in a myriad of ways, spiky things, fire, wind, other critters etc..You can use your stylus with the combination of "Masks" to Draw new bubbles,Shrink bubbles, and to Split or combine bubbles. With these things you have all the tools you need to get you through a level.

The hand drawn levels are amazing to look at and interact with, each "World" is different and beautifully illustrated. This is one of those games where you know that somebody who worked on it really loved his work.

This game didn't come from Nintendo, but it has a lot of the things that also make me love some of their games, especially the Mario games and Yoshi's Island. I'm sure a better review is on it's way but it won't be done by me. :-) Two Thumbs Up!!!

SceneIt? Includes 4 Big Button GamePads Review

SceneIt Includes 4 Big Button GamePadsI had my doubts about this game -- especially after seeing a picture of the included controllers. However, I stand corrected. This was one of the best game purchases that I've made this year. The game is very fun, and has been a hit with my family. Also, the tracking of the questions/puzzles and the variety of categories makes for an exciting and lasting experience.

For the price of a normal game, you get 4 wireless buzzer controllers, batteries, and a USB wireless controller IR port.Definitely worth it after you consider how much you actually get with the game.

I'm hoping that MS decides to expand the experience in 2 ways: 1) Through downloadable content through their Live service (in the form of new questions or puzzle types) and 2) Creates new trivia games that can utilize the same controller setup.

Scene It! is a pleasant surprise for Xbox 360 gamers who want to add some casual family/friends gaming to their system (especially for those who don't own a Wii).I hope that people buy this game just to show MS that there is a viable market for quality party games on the Xbox 360, and encourages them to release other great trivia titles.

Boom Blox Bash Party Review

Boom Blox Bash PartyIn a world full of sequels, it is refreshing to see a sequel truly improve upon the original while still remaining true to the core gameplay. With hundreds of levels and puzzles, the game is huge, but the same great gameplay is still present and the emphasis on multi-player, both competitive and co-op, has been increased immensely.Online functionality has been improved so much over the previous version, you almost don't realize you're working with Nintendo's stringent limitations that shackle most online Wii functionality.

For those of you that never played Boom Blox, here's the quick rundown.Boom Blox is a physics action-puzzler.It is kind of like Jenga, but you use the Wii remote pointer to throw bowling balls, throw baseballs, launch paint balls, shoot cannons, fire lasers, grab, grip, and throw items, and use a slingshot to either destroy (or sometimes build) your way through puzzles. This is the type of game the Wii was designed for with deep and imaginative level designs and dozens of ways to interact with the world laid down before you.

The new version has a lot of improvements over the last one.

+++ Most multi-player modes only require one remote, which is very nice if you don't have a full set of controllers.

+++ A ridiculous number of levels.Best of all, they are well designed levels. So far, based the nearly 100 or so that I've played, I can say the vast majority are very enjoyable and none of them have been bad.Getting bronze on most levels is pretty easy, but silver and gold medals can be challenging, and a few still have me scratching my head wonder how I'm supposed to get that perfect score that will bump me from a high Silver score to that coveted gold medal.Levels are now set in even more locales than before, including underwater and outer space.I particularly enjoy the outer space levels.

+++ An improved level unlock mechanism. You now collect Boom Bux, which can be used to purchase and unlock levels if you are too impatient to play through all of the prerequisite levels and achievements. With hundreds of levels in the game, I think this is a great feature.Although I've focused mostly on multi-player, I've observed that on every single one of the single-player levels that I've played I found a secret Boom Bux block.

+++ Fewer "shooter" levels, which were honestly the first game's weakest point.

+++ Stronger emphasis on multi-player with more multi-player modes and a ton more multi-player levels, both competitive and co-op.

+++ Smoother physics engine. This version seems to run smoother than the previous game, but the game can still experience a bit of slow down if too much happens on screen.

+++ Improved level builder support, which is directly tied to the online experience. My only regret is that my own personal creativity is pretty much limited to making symmetrical geometric patterns.

+++ Vastly improved online experience.Free download levels are already available and users can share their own custom levels with other players across the world without having to use Friend Codes!

+++ Very good music throughout most of the game, with only a few exceptions.

I do have a few minor complaints about the game, but they are very few.Competitive multi-player games tend to favor the first player slightly, but the game includes a "revenge" mechanic that mostly makes up for that shortcoming. The animals are still kind of annoying, especially with regards to their sound effects, but at least their animations have been diversified and been made more interesting. They still have the Happy-Tree-Friends-shoved-into-a-box look, which is kind of nice in a twisted sort of way.Like I said before, my complaints are really minor and I have yet to experience any gameplay issues that really, really bothered me.

All in all, I highly recommend this game to every Wii owner. This is the type of game the Wii was designed for.Despite it's cutesy art style and kid-friendly atmosphere, Boom Blox series isn't a gimmick like a lot of junk shoveled out onto the Wii.Hard core gamers will find an amazing amount of depth and challenge while casual gamers, parents, and families will find an accessible game that almost anyone can pick up and have fun with.Multi-player modes definitely steal the show and create a classic party game atmosphere. The replay value for this game is through the roof. The 400 levels, level editor, and content available for download definitely make this game an amazing value.

Starsky & Hutch Review

Starsky & HutchEarly in 2004, we were subjected to a big-screen version of "Starsky & Hutch".This game has nothing to do with the movie and instead is mostly based on the actual TV series.

You spend the entire game in your car and it reminded me a bit of the video game of "The Italian Job".That was a rather poor game but it shines like a diamond compared to this dumb title.I just had to laugh and laugh and LAUGH when I read that this features "high-speed" driving and "addictive" gameplay.Your car is a piece of junk.It is sooooo slow and handles horribly. You can unlock other vehicles by finding a hidden key in each level. Those are pieces of junk too.

Anyway, you chase badguys and wait for your auto lock-on circle to target the badguy and you shoot them.Boy oh boy...I can hardly stand the excitement. In order to make gameplay more thrilling they give you a few power-ups such as a (temporarily) upgraded weapon or a turbo boost. They also have police cars smash into you constantly. Why?After all, you're the good guys and they should be shooting/chasing the criminals, right?Well, that's what any intelligent person would think but the cops' SOLE purpose in this game is to spin out your car and get in your line of fire.Who's great idea was that? Thanks guys!

Most games have a "gimmick" and the one in this game is that you are playing actual episodes of a TV show. You have a TV rating showing how popular your show is.As you drive around, your rating keeps dropping and you have to jump off of ramps and shoot criminals and some other stuff in order to keep your viewership level up.In essence, it makes every single mission a timed mission which gets frustrating quickly. There's no time to pause or explore at all.

"Starsky & Hutch" is a tremendously annoying and boring game.Collision detection is pathetic.I was constantly driving completely through other vehicles.Graphics on a discounted title aren't expected to be ground-breaking but there is a lot of pop-up when you are driving around and the scenery is way too blocky.Cutscenes?Heh...right.They do that whole 2D, hand-drawn, cheap-looking still shot thing. On the audio side of things, they were kind enough to come up with, like, maybe a half dozen phrases which they repeat ad nauseum.I don't know if they came out with this game to show spite for video game players everywhere but it sure feels like no effort was actually put into it.
